Mountains for Mental Health

This year I'm climbing 52 peaks higher than 1000m to raise support for those fighting an uphill battle with their mental health!

Mental health is an urgent issue in Aotearoa, with suicide being a leading cause of death and half of all New Zealanders experiencing mental distress during their lifetime. Our mental health sector is sadly hugely under resourced, and those that are most in need of support can often be isolated.

For me, getting outdoors and climbing mountains is what supports my mental health and has helped me through tough times. Making those memories with friends, whether it be having lots of fun or trudging uphill at 2am, helps me to get through the worse times and remember that even if the uphill seems to go on forever it will end and it will get easier again.
